The Battersby Family Photos – A Treasured Memory
As a photographer, there are certain sessions that hold a special place in your heart. The Battersby Family photos are one of those sessions—filled with warmth, laughter, and a beloved furry companion who will forever be part of their story. I had the pleasure of capturing my lovely friend Steph, her husband, their two wonderful boys, and their loyal golden retriever, Oscar, on a crisp winter afternoon.
Oscar, affectionately known as Osky, had been their family’s gentle guardian and best friend for 14 years, making this session extra meaningful. There was something truly special about watching them interact—Osky lying happily in the grass as the boys snuggled up to him, Steph and her husband sharing knowing smiles as they watched their children play with their beloved pup. It was the kind of session where you could feel the love in every frame.
Little did we know that just a few weeks later, Osky would no longer be with them. In a heartbreaking turn of events, he suffered an injury that led to the devastating discovery that he likely had bone cancer. The kindest and most loving decision was to let him go peacefully in the comfort of his home – his safe place. It was an incredibly difficult moment for Steph and her family, and my heart goes out to them as they navigate life without their furry best friend. I am so grateful that we were able to capture these moments together—photos that will now serve as a cherished reminder of the joy, loyalty, and unconditional love that Osky brought into their lives. The Battersby Family photos will always stand as a tribute to the love they shared, and to Osky’s incredible presence that will never be forgotten. Rest easy, Osky. You were so loved. ❤️
